State Approved Alcohol Education Classes (MIP)
The curriculum contains information on the following topics:
- societal values related to alcohol consumption by minors,
- the influence of alcohol advertising on young people,
- the physical, social and psychological effects of alcohol upon young people;
- the relationship between motor vehicle and other accidents and alcohol use;
- relevant laws relating to the purchase, possession or consumption of alcoholic beverages by minors,
- drinking patterns and problems of young people including abuse and addiction and
- decision making skills.
Chemical Dependency Counseling
For Youth and Court Ordered for Probationers and Parolees
The standardized program is 15 hours in length and is designed to increase the knowledge of drug offenders by educating them on the dangers of drug abuse and associated illegal activities, to identify their own individual drug-use patterns, and to assist them in developing a personal action plan which will reduce the probability of suffering the consequences of future drug using and illegal behavior.

- drugs of abuse,

- cost of use and abuse,
- health issues,
- HIV,
- interpersonal relationships,
- deglamorization of drugs,
- values and behaviors,
- past and desired behaviors,
- getting control of your life,
- resource options,
- and personal action planning.
(Not applicable to deferred adjudication).
Supportive Group and Individual Counseling Program
This is a 12-week program that includes an assessment/intake interview of up to 1.5 hours, a weekly hour long supportive group counseling session and individual counseling sessions scheduled as needed.
GED Proficiency Preparation
GED Proficiency Preparation Classes are designed to provide the student with all of the necessary skills required to successfully pass the GED high school equivalency exam as determined by the Texas Education Agency. We will refer you to the nearest class, usually at a library, possibly a school.
Classes Offered: Writing, Reading, Social Studies, Science, Math
HOPE (Helping Other People Excel)
HOPE is divided into two separate groups - one for males and one for females. Although HOPE is targeted for youth ages 13-21 years old who are considered to be at risk, any young person can benefit from HOPE. HOPE provides an opportunity to develop participants' cultural traits through dance, song, modeling or other extracurricular interests. A licensed counselor is available for weekly discussions or assistance.

- Be able to enter the work world prepared and knowledgeable.
- Participate in politics and become aware of community needs.
- Learn daily social and etiquette skills.
- Be encouraged to complete their education, stay drug-free and practice abstinence.

This program is designed to assist FIPs with every aspect of re-establishing their lives. We commit to the following...
- Provide counseling services
- Provide housing referrals and assist in securing stable housing.
- Connect the participants to programs that can aid them into being a mentor.
- Ensure that they are restored their civil rights if eligible.
- Assign/locate legal counsel for participants regarding issues of probation/parole.
- Assist in the re-connection of the participants and their family members.
- Provide educational programs for furthering their education.
- Provide participants an opportunity to participate in organized athletic leagues.
